11 songs from Q2 of 2011 (with playlist)

I did this playlist a while back based on the music I have listened to in the first quarter of 2011 – it had 11 songs and if you click the link below (providing you have Spotify) then you’ll only be able to bloody listen to it.

eleven for ’11

Anyway, I’ve been at it again and done another Spotify playlist – one for the second quarter (I think the second quarter of 2011 has now passed – if not you’re in for a massive early treat you jive ass turkeys.).

30 Day Song Challenge

So I finished this 30 Day Song Challenge thingamy on Facebook, over thirty days (technically probably 40 or 50 days).  To commemorate this glorious achievement I made a Spotify Playlist (bottom of this post) of the songs I picked, so if you’re like a stalker or really interested in listening to music I like then you can do just that.  There’s a nice wide range of songs and artists.

The ‘challenge’ features 30 often repetitive and stupid questions and you basically stick up a video or whatever for a song for the question.  The questions are as follows:

day 01 – your favorite song
day 02 – your least favorite song
day 03 – a song that makes you happy
day 04 – a song that makes you sad
day 05 – a song that reminds you of someone
day 06 – a song that reminds you of somewhere
day 07 – a song that reminds you of a certain event
day 08 – a song that you know all the words to
day 09 – a song that you can dance to
day 10 – a song that makes you fall asleep
day 11 – a song from your favorite band
day 12 – a song from a band you hate
day 13 – a song that is a guilty pleasure
day 14 – a song that no one would expect you to love
day 15 – a song that describes you
day 16 – a song that you used to love but now hate
day 17 – a song that you hear often on the radio
day 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio
day 19 – a song from your favorite album
day 20 – a song that you listen to when you’re angry
day 21 – a song that you listen to when you’re happy
day 22 – a song that you listen to when you’re sad
day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding
day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral
day 25 – a song that makes you laugh
day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument
day 27 – a song that you wish you could play
day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty
day 29 – a song from your childhood
day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

Enjoy

eleven for ’11

Having posted precisely ‘fuck all’ posts in February I’ve upped my game and this is my 3rd (THIRD) post of this March.  It isn’t anything particularly creative though just your run of the mill Spotify playlist.

Due to work and other things I’ve not really listened to much music but I’ve put together 11 songs for your listening pleasure or pain.  The eleven thing is cause it’s 2011, in case you were wondering.

After much hoo-hahing with the dealership about my new car it finally came yesterday morning and it is fucking great.  Time to plan some road trips.  Maybe I’ll do a post about my new car with some pictures of it and me looking happy but I don’t really fancy being “that twat next-door/across-the-road who takes photos of his car”.  Perhaps I will to be creative and take it on a tour of Staffordshire and take photos of the place I’ve been.

Anyway, here’s the playlist awaiting your click-age.

If you don’t have Spotify you can always find a way to contact me (quite easy if you look at the links at the top of the page) as I have invites coming out my ears.

My 31 Favourite Songs of 2010

Because I’m sure the whole world can’t wait to hear what I think.

Why 31?  It was gonna be 20 but I got carried away.  Then I settled on 30 but put an extra one in accidentally.

It is mostly a mixture of miserablist indie, electropop, female fronted bands and Swedish groups, although my favourite song of the year is the most rocking (God I sound 28) song on the list.  There’s also Mike Patton singing an Italian pop cover thrown in for good measure.  There are a few videos scattered around as links on the song titles and if you go right to the bottom of the list there is a link to a Spotify playlist.

Titus Andronicus – A More Perfect Union

Yeasayer – I Remember

Janelle Monáe – Tightrope

Lady Gaga – Telephone

Janelle Monáe – Cold War

She & Him – Home

Yeasayer – O.N.E.

Spotify: Oh! What A Christmas Playlist

I am not a massive fan of Christmas as you can tell from my name change on Facebook in any form other than booze, food and time off work – which I think is what most people see it as, who really cares that it’s Jesus birthday.

Still I took the time to put together a Christmas Playlist on Spotify.  Hopefully there are a few completely random things, that’s the point – I mean one of the reasons Christmas irks me is the incessant repetition of the same old songs year in year out.  Who wants to listen to Last Christmas every year, unless it’s done by the Manics of course…

I think ‘I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas’ my be my new favourite song.  It is unbelievably awesome.  I’m the first to admit there are some probably VERY VERY tenuous links to Christmas, who knows – maybe not.  Bowie and Bing is amazing, purely for the intro and you’ve not heard Walking in the Air until you’ve heard Kenny Loggins singing it.

If you missed it THIS is the link, so CLICK it.

Playlist: Spotify: September (bit late now)

Because actually writing something is too much effort right now.

SEPTEMBER 2010

I particularly like the song by The Radio Dept. who are touring in December (I want to go), in fact I like all the songs.  GO ME!

Digital Versicolour by Glass Candy is awesome too.

Obviously there are plenty of other good songs on it, so clikc the link or photo and give it a virtual spin.
