My Favourite Music Videos: Part Nio
Nio is nine in Swedish according to a site found via a Google search. I could have checked with Swedish people I know but I thought what the fuck, when have the internets ever been wrong?
The reason for the Swedishness is that my video for this ever fascinating series of posts about my favourite music videos is by an ACTUAL Swedish person; Karin Dreijer Andersson from AKA Fever Ray. It is the video for the song When I Grow Up. It is a very good song and a very good video directed by Martin de Thurah.
What do I like about this video I hear you not asking?
Första; there is something cool about a swimming pool all covered in leaves.
Andra; the costume of the girl – Olivia Anselmo not Karin – in the video is nuts.
and..
Tredje; the bit where she starts dancing is ace, when he wrist goes at first and then rest of her. (1 minute 27 seconds ish).
Enough of my wittering.
Enjoy.

Playlist: Spotify: September (bit late now)
Because actually writing something is too much effort right now.
I particularly like the song by The Radio Dept. who are touring in December (I want to go), in fact I like all the songs. GO ME!
Digital Versicolour by Glass Candy is awesome too.
Obviously there are plenty of other good songs on it, so clikc the link or photo and give it a virtual spin.

My Favourite Music Videos: Part Eight
Young ladies dancing around in uniforms, always a winning idea. More reality talent contests should take this approach.
It is the video for Seventeen by Ladytron.

Pitchfork.com Top 200 songs of the 1990s
At the start of the year I made this playlist based on Pitchfork’s Top 100 songs of 2009.
Then I made this playlist which had some of my favourite songs from the 1990s.
Pitchfork have clearly stole my idea in making a best of the 1990s and gone into full detail with a Top 200 of the 1990s. So I thought, what the hell, I am bed bound with man flu I’ll make a Spotify playlist for it. Of course due to the obscurity or lack of songs on Spotify it doesn’t have the full 200 but 162 ain’t a bad effort.
I think the list is really good. There’s a lot of my favourite (and some I probably had on my 1990s playlist) songs on it; Gold Soundz by Pavement, Only Shallow by My Bloody Valentine, Holland 1945 by Neutral Milk Hotel and quite a few I had completely forgotten about but remember LOVING at that time but might be to ashamed to admit now I’m a grown up (Steal My Sunshine by Len being one). There’s also quite a good representation of British music and not just the standard Brit Pop stuff, which is nice.
Anyway, enjoy and if you need a Spotify invite to listen (unlimited all the time – with only adverts) email me and I’ll sort you out. I have tonnes of invites building up.

Christopher Hitchens Interview
Christopher Hitchens was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer a few months ago, these videos are an interview conducted by US TV host Anderson Cooper. I don’t really have much to say other than it is, as always, fascinating to hear Mr Hitchens speak. He is so frank, rational and still full of humour despite the circumstances he finds himself in.
