My Favourite Music Videos: Part Six
If only all music videos could be as creative, silly and awesome as this one for Witness the Fitness by Roots Manuva.

Who ate all the pies?
It is the 20th anniversary of the beginning of one of my favourite shows of all time and to celebrate there is a rather fetching gold edition of Season 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks,, I think it was actually out a few months ago… I have wanted Season 2 on DVD for some time and finally I can get it and watch it in full glory. Wandering around HMV I have seen it for £50 which seems a bit rich, luckily Zavvi are flogging it for a more reasonable £34.99. This is more than 50% a reduction from the RRP, although since when do we ever pay full whack when e-shopping.
I’ve put my order in so I can enjoy the glory of the second best on screen pie moment behind this, David Duchovny in drag, a midget in rewind, one of my favourite finales of all time and all the other batshit crazy things that make Twin Peaks so enjoyable. Just need to sell my season 1 dvd now. Any takers?
Of course it isn’t just boxsets that make for a good televisual experience, SKY+ is the king of kings. I recently caught up of Season 2 of True Blood having ‘plussed’ it while it was showing on FX and I loved it! Season 1 was wonderful I was uncertain if they could match that but the creepiness, sex, humour and fantastical elements were turned up to 11. To be honest it really could have been classed as soft-porn at times, it would make the perfect drinking game – every time there’s a sex scene, drink – you’d be on the floor by mid-season. The key elements, set up in season 1, followed on seamlessly. Jason joining the anti-vampire Christian extremist terrorist summer camp was a great subplot for Ryan Kwanten’s character to develop. Sookie and Bill’s relationship had plenty of ups and downs, thanks in part to the fantastic Alexander Skarsgard as Viking Vampire Eric. Although my personal favourite parts of the season were Michelle Forbes, who always seems to be great, as Maryann the social worker come Maenad who encourages everyone to fuck with her special powers whilst trying to conjure up Satan, or some version of him. Andy, the hapless alcoholic Detective, going on about the pig had me in stitches. OH and then Evan Rachel Wood turned up as the Queen Vampire of Louisiana and was brilliant with her yahtzee obsession. FX just need to pull their fingers out to get season 3 on air ASAP, I can’t wait until next year!
The last month has also seen the beginning of Justified starring Tim Olyphant on FIVE USA. I like this show because they have basically taken Tin Elephant’s character from Deadwood, Seth Bullock, and moved him into the 21st century.
I’ve also been continuning to watch V which is beginning to annoy me now, it is getting a bit too cock-teasey for its own good, I just want to see one of the gorram aliens without their human skin. It is fun playing spot the old Battlestar Galactica actor, there seems to be one every week. Castle continues to amuse me. It is Murder She Wrote for the 21st century and brilliant, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic make a great team. Strike Back which was on SKY and starred that bloke out of Spooks and Robin Hood was quite frankly a little dull, it didn’t grasp me. Maybe because I could see the fact that Egg out of This Life was a baddie and I haven’t bothered to see that through.
Right, that’ll do for now. Just one more thing… I really want to buy this, it was my favourite show as a kid.

Cash Chase
Here is the dissertation film I did at university with my co-director James Russell. Despite the film being somewhat dubious in coherence and quality believe me when I tell you we backed it up with awesome documentation and an epic presentation that had them rolling in the aisles.
The film is Cash Chase; a reality tv game show pilot. The idea is that one pair have to complete a series of tasks in order to gain clues in order to win a cash prize. Meanwhile another team are trying to hunt them down. I’m uncertain if any of that is actually explained in the film, it would have been if we had the time to film segments with a host.
At the beginning is a trailer followed by the rest of the film. I hope you enjoy.
This is the alternative ending that we filmed.

Dozen: A bit of a preview
Here is the first 8 minutes of Dozen, the film we started making a couple of months ago. At the moment it is certainly on hold whilst we do other things, like work, train and work on other ideas that are probably stronger than what Dozen had in store.
This was really a rough cut not for public consumption, there are a few changes that are needed to it, not least the pacing. Who knows, if popular demand calls for the rest of the film to be done then it will increases the chances of us doing it. Enjoy the ‘acting’.

My Favourite Music Videos: Part Five
Well this ‘series’ of my favourite music videos has only reached part five and I’ve already decided to throw out the idea of it being my favourite videos of all time. Hence, I introduce the video for A More Perfect Union by Titus Andronicus. The song is from their second (brilliant) album ‘The Monitor’ which is out now.
I recommend full screen and turn it up to 11.

Spotify Playlist: Pitchfork Top 100 Tracks of 2009 (Update)
I have added ten songs to this playlist, it is still not complete but I can only blame outside sources for that. Who knows maybe by the end of the year it will be complete. Most of what has been added probably wasn’t available (in the UK) until some time in 2010.
Here is a link to the original post for a bit more explanation.
